1. What's a "tomgeek" anyhow?
|
~For more information, please see the About page article, "Tomgeeks: A History"

2. How do I join the Tomgeeks Member List?
Copy and paste the form below into an email to admin(at)tomgeeks(dot)com, filling in the appropriate information as requested.
*****
Comic Name:
Comic URL:
URL to an "author" page on your website with your name (as proof of your womanly status):
URL to where you have the Tomgeeks banner displayed & linked to tomgeeks.com: 'cause one good turn deserves another, right?
Genre of your comic: (Please select from the pre-existing genres listed on the Tomgeeks Member List if at all possible)
You must also attach one 200x40 pixel banner to the email (not a link to one). Jpg preferred! And if you could name your banner after your comic, I'd be much obliged.
*****
~New additions to the list will be posted every Monday. If your comic is not posted, please send it again. Your email will not be replied to unless there is a problem with your submission.
NOTE: Your comic must be ACTIVE to join and remain on the Tomgeek list. If you haven't updated your comic in more than two months, please don't apply. And if your comic becomes inactive after joining - again, for a period of two months - then it is removed from the list.
NOTE: Please do not submit anyone else's comic for them. Feel free to suggest it to them, but let them write the email.

Our Banners: (which you should host on your own server, pls&thx)

3. Can't guys just pretend to be girls to get on the Member List?
Sure, they can. We operate on an honour system and hope that no one will be so silly as to do this, but hey! If I were a guy, I'd probably wanna be a girl too ;)
Guys are more than welcome to join the forums, but the Tomgeeks Member List is reserved for the promotion of female webcomic artists only! |

4. I don't write/illustrate a comic, can I still join the forum?
Of course! The forum is for all manner of geeks, not just comic buffs! ... Though I don't know how you found this place if you aren't into comics...

5. I didn't get the forum confirmation email - what do I do?
The first thing you should do is check your junk email folder. Nine times out of ten, your confirmation email has wound up there. If it's not there, THEN you can send us an email at admin(at)tomgeeks(dot)com and we'll fix it up for you.

6. Can I write a Tomgeeks Review?
Tomgeeks is more than interested in receiving well-written reviews to feature on our site. However, before you go and put all that effort into something like that, please do email us with 1. a sample of your writing and 2. your topic of discussion for approval first. Not all proposals will be used/approved, naturally.
If you get approved, our criteria for a review is as follows:
- The review is mostly positive. That is to say, you should review a comic/game/book/site/whatever that you enjoy, not one you want to pick on for being bad.
- The review is not of your own comic, etc., nor your friend's.
- The reviewed comic, etc. is not necessarily done by a female, though we certainly do encourage it.
- The review must include pages from the comic or screencaps from the game, etc. Do not simply link to the images though, they must be included with the review (i.e. attached to the email with instructions such as "insert image#1 here" within the text of the review). Try to include at least 5 and not more than 10.
- Images must be resized so that they are 700 pixels wide or less - length is of no concern. Jpg preferred, thanks!
- The text of the review should be at least 500 words long. Longer is fine , but don't go writing an epic trilogy or anything.
- Spoiler alert level: let us know if you're going to be giving anything away that people might not want to see before experiencing your reviewed topic firsthand. In general, we encourage as few spoilers as possible.
Submit your proposals to admin(at)tomgeeks(dot)com.
Please don't be offended if we aren't in need of your mad skillz when you submit your proposal. We likes you plenty regardless . |

7. I have a suggestion for the "You might be a Tomgeek if..." banner! Where do I submit it?
There's a forum thread for just that, which can be found here. Not a forum member? email it to us!

8. Why are banners removed from the Tomgeeks Member List? And how can I get a banner back up?
If a comic dies a horrible death*, it's banner is removed from the Tomgeeks Member List. If your comic was removed and has sinced been resurrected, email us and we'll put it back up.
*"Horrible death" is defined as not updating for more than 2 months. This does not apply to completed comics. |

9. How are the "Spotlight Members" chosen?
We take suggestions on the forum and by email from other Tomgeeks. The choice is a random one though! Feel free to suggest away, but don't submit your own comic - that's just tacky!

10. How do I contact the admin?
admin(at)tomgeeks(dot)com - just subsitute the words in the brackets for the appropriate symbols. Unless you're a spambot. Then don't do that.

11. My comic is co-authored/illustrated by a guy - can I still join the Member List?
Sure! So long as one of you is a lady - or at least female - there's no problem.

12. You're just a bunch of man-hating feminazis, aren't you? |
Naturally. Didn't we put that up on the main page? "Man-hating feminazis please apply here"? No? Well, we'll get around to it someday I'm sure. [/sarcasm]
But seriously, pro-female does not equate to anti-male. We certainly hope that you don't feel that this site is meant to exclude men, it's simply meant to spotlight women. |
