I think maybe Nigel is uncomfortable talking about feelings, and thus doesn't know what to say, or if he should say anything at all.

I hope Keres will help Kit in order to defy Sigurd, but I don't think she will. I'm afraid Keres will recognize Kit as something that helped to trap her in the golem's body and flip out on her. D:

hi hi

It is also entirely possible that Keres will want to but be unable to because of the shackles of bad. Though I have to wonder if we'll be noticing any strange effects caused by the fact that Sigurd wasn't able to drain Kit completely, especially if the two of them come into contact with each other.

@icekatze: to be fair to Nigel, he is pretty uncomfortable when it comes to talking about his feeling, and just because he isn't saying anything doesn't mean he isn't listening. And Kit isn't the type to be easily offended by a lack of social grace XD

Re: the grass, I callously force you to vote for me in order to see my answer! *maniacal cackle* As for the nitty gritty of it, there's no smudging involved, and I'll post a screen of the brush I use most for the grass (later when I'm not about to fall asleep), but I wouldn't call it a custom brush. I just took a default brush and set the flow to around 50% and the flow jitter to pen pressure. It only works with a tablet, and all it does is make the strokes blend a bit more when I lift up my pen. When I'm done all the layers of colour I'll add a gradient over top of everything for the sunset light, but other than that it's just painting. Smile

@kewdle: But flipping out is what Keres does best! Very Happy

hi hi

(Totally snowed in today, everything is canceled but the internet it seems)

I figured Nigel wasn't staring off into space totally oblivious, but since he didn't get any close-ups I wasn't sure. Still, I'm pretty sure that nobody in the party is too easily offended by a lack of social grace, considering that nobody seems to have any to begin with Very Happy Well, I guess Sid has some noble graces, but he's totally out of his element now.

Speaking of Sid, I know he's multi-classed as a fighter now, but it is good to see that his bardic roots are still alive and well... Err, I guess they're alive at least. Maybe he needs a few more levels of bard before he can pull off mood setting effectively. Razz (I wish I had a bag of insta-sakura... you just have to make sure they're fresh I guess, otherwise they clump up.) Its a shame though, Sid turns into a dragon when he gets scared, and now it looks like he turns into a horrifying frog beast when he gets sentimental. Smile

I totally dig the sketchy border on panel 3.5 its all action~y and stuff. I sorta recall someone using that technique for entire characters when certain action packed things were going on but I can't recall where I saw that.

Panel 4 (5 if you count the panel in picture) is up there with the most adorable renditions of Kit EVER... and that's all I have to say about that.

Re: I sooo already looked at the vote incentive, I admit I very nearly fan boy~d, but I was able to tone it down to just a "woot! woot!" Don't know if I'll have time to test it out before the street gets cleared and I go in to work, but I'm looking forward to showing my wrist who's boss as soon as I can. Stupid wrist, what did it ever do for me?
Edit: So I gave the grass tutorial a try, i forgot to set my brush to 100% at first but I think it still worked out alright. I redid the grass on a recent picture. My wrist doesn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it should though... Also, something tells me I should work harder to unlock the secrets of the mushy brush, which I didn't even realize existed until today.

lol yeah that's what I was thinking, Larina is prettyy much the only one with a bit of social grace... and even then she has her off moments too... as for Sid....he tries! He tries reaaaaally reaaaaally hard!

And your grass looks nice! Pulling off colours in a night scene is hard to do too Smile As for mushy brushes, they're a bit of a double-edged sword. They are good for blending far away things and laying down base colours, but if you use them too much it turns everything into a giant blobby mess. (bad cheap animated movies do this a lot) There's a lot you can do with different brush settings, and everybody has their own setup too, so it's not like there's one formula to follow. I like starting with a softer brush and working into detail with a harder brush because the soft brush does some of the blending work for me! XD But if you look at pixel artists for example, they only ever use completely opaque hard-edged brushes and they can still blend colours and get a painted look to their pieces, they just have to pick their colours more carefully Very Happy

Sid's face in that last panel is one of the least attractive things I've ever seen.

It's quite resourceful of her to use the chain to smack him around. I guess he really didn't think that heavy, long chain through very well, did he?

tea: I know, I like to try drawing things that are kind of cute but mostly really disturbing... Sid lends himself to this really well Very Happy

kewdle: Yeah, it's a bit like a superhero cape, a flashy symbol, good for making a statement, also good for getting caught in jet engines (or in this case, whacking sigurd about the head with)! <3 pixar life lessons

Do you think his long coat counts as sort of a cape? I think it could. Then again, it may also be necessary, given where he lives. Hmm.

Wow, i return from a months long absence to witness to witness Siggy get whacked on the head Smile , perfect.

Really you'd think that a genre sawy evil overlord like siggy would know better than to put a female prisoner in long chains,no one has been that stupid since the star wars movies.

hi hi

I don't know if Siggy-poo is getting smacked in the face or doing the surprise limbo, but it looks like he's not doing too bad. Entirely on the defensive maybe, but he doesn't look like she's bloodied his face or anything yet.

Capes do have a utilitarian purpose besides just keeping people warm. As long as they're not made out of super material, they were commonly used much like bull-fighters use theirs to misdirect. Someone could slice through a cape but find that the body they were trying to hit wasn't where they thought it was. Sort of like a lizard shedding it's tail. Fitting for Sig Man perhaps.

So what do you think, Sid x Keres? What? It could work out! No... you're right, it probably wouldn't. Or would it?!? Razz

kewdle: both Sigurd and Keres have long flappy clothing, so if a jet does pass by they'll be on equal footing, but it is cold where they are so Sigurd at least needs the robes!

blinkx: Sigurd is not quite getting whacked on the head, but at few more centimeters and he'd have an improvised nose job! (icekatze is right, he's doing the surprise limbo)

icekatze: ...Is that SidxKeres or SigxKeres you meant? Either way, both ideas kiiiiinda scare me! Wink

hi hi

Maybe if Sigurd had a horribly disfigured nose people would react to his appearance with more fear and fewer snarky comments. So really, Keres could just be helping him out.

I think I meant SidxKeres, of course this is the part where I'm supposed to get indignant and point out that true love can overcome all odds, including but not limited to evil overlords, diabolical conspiracies and doomsday devices... but you're right, just about anything Keres related is kinda scary. Smile

Siggy is very physical for an old guy,he seems to have the situation well in hand, then again hes not human is he? so he must be stronger or/and faster than the human norm.

Come to think of it, of the main cast only Sid is human, even the baddies are non human except possibly the Templar,So these guys should be able to kick but during the action scenes, exept poor sid Sad .

You know Sid could be a good influence on her ladyship the phyco, considering his record so far it wont take much to get Sid interested in anything female, and who knows maybe finding true love/drool will melt her icy heart and make her change her evil ways. And Keres will turn over a new leaf, valiantly helping the heroes to fight Siggy and vanquish him once and for all and retruning peace to the seven kingdoms. After which she will spend her time rescuing missing puppies and generally fighting evil. But she will always make time for a romantic evening with Sid.During witch they will come to the conclution that love does conquar all............The End.
